Over the last decade, the practical use of technology in the courtroom has advanced
from multiple print boards and transparencies that were viewed on overhead projectors,
to databases, digital presentations, and animations that are stored on laptop computers
and displayed on individual LCD screens. Litigation technology has completely revolutionized
the manner in which a Judge or jury may hear and view critical evidence. The availability
of simultaneous comparison of conflicting documents, the ability to impeach expert
testimony with deposition video, the capacity to recall a single document among
millions of pages in virtual seconds has shifted the edge and momentum to those
firms who understand their value. At Borrowed Ladder Media we offer these clients
a variety of solutions to meet these objectives.
Several standard options include the inData TrialDirector trial presentation
suite, Verdict Systems' Sanction II, Visionary, Microsoft PowerPoint and OpenOffice's
Impress. We offer full in-court and on-site trial support and can provide our comprehensive
consultant services at any location. Mr. Joseph Ficocello, President and senior
trial consultant of Borrowed Ladder Media, is an inData Trial Director 5 Certified
Trainer, and is a published author in the field of trial presentation strategies,
techniques, and technology.
Database Creation & Maintenance
The creation and management of a database as a repository for case records is a
critical component in any litigation. Key information and documents, often in the
millions of pages, must be organized within a medium that allows for tagging, indexing,
searching, and review. We can assist your legal team with the development of a seamless
case database that includes customized fields and other support measures adapted
to meet the needs of your firm. This includes the creation of the database, customized
fields, indexing, image based linking, the creation of persistent tags and end-user
training.
Our professionals have attained the LexisNexis Concordance Certified Software Administrator
(CCSA) credential for LexisNexis' Concordance 2007 & Imager. This preferred certification
demonstrates the highest level of software proficiency and competence. Additionally,
our many years of experience working with the earlier software version known as
Dataflight, allows us to anticipate unforeseen issues. Once the document review
has been completed and the trial team is preparing for trial, we can export exhibits
and provide complete TrialDirector or Sanction II databases.
Litigation Software Support
Information management and access are critical components of the litigation life
cycle. This process, often spanning several years, requires a requisite understanding
of specific infrastructure and software solutions. Our professionals are not simply
experienced "vendors" - they have served within law firms, litigation support departments
and serviced Fortune 100, 500 and 1000 corporations. Our on-site and remote software
support includes the operation, maintenance and training on multiple litigation
specific applications including LexisNexis' Concordance, Imager, CaseMap, TimeMap,
NoteMap, Thomson-West LiveNote, inData TrialDirector, inData TimelineXpress & inData
TimeCoder Pro.
Deposition
Video Conversion & Transcript Sync
A video deposition or any recorded portion of testimony can provide certain advantage
when used during any trial, mediation or arbitration. This medium permits the repeated
playback of compelling evidence that might otherwise be underemphasized or completely
overlooked. As a visual tool, the demeanor, inflection, and body language of a witness
can often yield important non-verbal information to an audience. This is one of
the many reasons why video depositions should be used in court, and we can assist
you in the management, conversion, text-video transcript synchronization, deposition
designation clip creation and archiving. At Borrowed Ladder Media, we include licensure
for the use of inData DepoView on every video deposition project.
Video
Services
We can provide video services that range from the creation of “Day in the Life”
videos to the production of DVD based tutorials. We assist each of our clients in
determining the best use modality of their aggregate files and specialize in the
conversion of VHS, cassette, CD or DVD based media into any computer based file
format. In addition, we offer PowerPoint video deposition slides, seamless video
integration, and can export video deposition testimony for playback on standard
home theater equipment.
Trial Enlargements & Print Exhbits
Although we live and work in a virtually digital world, print exhibits and trial
enlargements are often necessary visual tools. We do not overlook their contribution
to specific litigation, and as such, our graphic designers and illustrators can
work with you to coordinate your project. With a finalized proof, we can then print,
mount and laminate the demonstratives on foam core boards. We are capable of printing
these trial boards as large as 48" x 60" in either full color or black & white.
