I have been an avid supporter of CaseMap since it’s first version as a flagship CaseSoft Inc. product. CaseMap is a software application that enables an attorney (or an entire trial team) to coordinate the strategic, issue, document and research facets of every case from within one central location. Windows Vista & Metadata: What does this mean for the average user or a law firm?

Metadata will forever be a fact of life – digital files will leave a footprint in more than one way. Metadata, classically defined as the, “data about data,” is content that describes certain automatic or prompted aspects, facets, or details of information stored on the computer system. For example, when you create a document in Microsoft Word or a spreadsheet in Excel, metadata is gathered and profiled within the file properties. Information such as the author of the content, number of revisions, create/edit/modified dates and other metrics can often be found in a document’s metadata.
